Shifting Weight stands in reference to the 'tableau vivant' and is an attempt of exploring the many ways of inhabiting the photograph. The piece consists of two parts: performance and resulting installation. Throughout the exhibition opening of the Fresh Focus group exhibition at Stills Centre for Photography a performer stood in front of the gallery wall holding an image of the sea in both hands while swaying from side to side to animate the still. Becoming a living sculpture, performer and photograph kept a consistent rhythm throughout the event.
