Install documentation for End to Beginning at Trongate, Glasgow 2016

End to Beginning is a performative and visual interpretation of Friedrich Schiller's play 'Maria Stuart' from 1800, put together by sculpture, textiles and photography. A on-woman-show that allows the viewer to immerse within the story and see the complexities of this tragedy from a new perspective. The play itself portraits the last three days of Mary Queen of Scots and the build up to her dramatic execution at Fotheringay Castle in 1748. After Mary had fled Scotland to find exile  at her cousin Queen Elizabeth she was imprisoned for 13 years and beheaded under the accusation of murder and attempted murder. On the day of her execution Mary has been said to have pulled off her dark coat, revealing a bright red dress that she graciously walked to the guillotine.
